Go to the activities fair and sign up for things. It’s a great way to meet people and learn about Pitt’s resources.

Kristen DiLemmo, A’E Editor

If a class just doesn’t feel right, or you’re not sure about the professor or the book or the syllabus or anything at all, DROP IT before the add/drop period ends. It’s not worth being miserable all semester or suffering a bad grade.

Get out of Oakland! Explore the city, it has a lot to offer and it’s great to get out of the bubble.

Rachel Coup, Production Manager

There are alternatives to coffee if java isn’t your thing. Find your caffeine or energy drink of choice and stock up.

Sarah Bingler, Opinions Editor

Develop a workable balance between studying and party attendance. Don’t celebrate until you’ve earned it through hard work. Or, if studying’s fun for you, apply yourself and let loose every once in a while.

Derek Reighard, Assistant A’E Editor

Guys, if a girl asks you to walk her back to her room, DO IT!

Pete Media, Photo Editor

Take advantage of all the free stuff that comes along with being a Pitt Student. Use the buses, go to museums and check out Pitt Arts and Pitt Program Council for more free or low-cost entertainment. It’s a great way to go on a date for free! Who knows — you might really hit it off with that cute guy from the office at a free jazz concert.

Sarah Bingler, Opinions Editor

Don’t think that caring about your future is geeky. Visit Career Services your freshman year. If you don’t, you’ll have a lot of catching up to do later.

Angela Hayes, Assistant News Editor

Jessica Lear, Editor in Chief

If the professor just reads notes off PowerPoint slides and also posts the slides to Courseweb, don’t bother going to class. You can read; you don’t need to show up at 9 a.m. to have someone with a Ph.D. do it for you.

Annie Tubbs, Managing Editor

Go up to Mount Washington and check out the view at least once a semester. It rejuvenates you and helps you remember why you’re here.

Pitt students have their own pharmacy on the fifth floor of the Medical Arts Building down the hall from Student Health. They have prescription and non-prescription items and you can save a ton of money there!

Sarah Bingler, Opinions Editor

Read The Pitt News to stay on top of campus issues. Be aware of what’s going on with Student Government Board — it’s your money they have control of.

Annie Tubbs, Managing Editor

Don’t drink your laundry money. Someone might buy you a drink, but they’ll never do your laundry for you.

Anna Kissell, Assistant Copy Chief

Don’t go home for the summer. It’s the best time to be in Oakland.

Sarah Bingler, Opinions Editor

Go to class, just go to class. It sounds simple, but it’s half the battle.

Pat Mitsch, Assistant Sports Editor
