I would like to express my opinion and a few ideas to the students that are out on the street… I would like to express my opinion and a few ideas to the students that are out on the street boycotting military recruiting. Recruiting does not just happen in a time of war. Recruiting is an ongoing process that is never going to stop as long as we have a volunteer military. I wonder if you folks even know what that means to volunteer for something you believe in. While I agree with you that the war is wrong and that this administration is the worst administration in the history of our country, boycotting a military recruiting station is not going to change things. Do you think that the rest of the world or Washington for that matter cares what happens on a street corner in Oakland?

If you want to change things, might I suggest a few things? Try coming up with something new to protest. For example, immigration is big right now. Or maybe you could try starting a movement to impeach the president for all he has done to mislead the country and Congress. Try writing letters to express your concerns to government officials and try getting your fellow students to do the same. Your little protests are not on anyone’s radar and recruiting is always going to be here as long as there are Americans who feel that helping others taste freedom is a cause worth dying for. Solders in the armed forces may not agree with the wars they are fighting but they are doing it because they actually see the people they are helping.

So to end this, if you want to really change things try using the brains that got you into this university and come up with something truly inspiring.
