Kevan Barlow, RB, San Francisco 49ers, 1997-2000 – The 49ers put Barlow in injured reserve, meaning he was inactive for the 49ers’ 20-17 win over the visiting Houston Texans.
Antonio Bryant, WR, Cleveland Browns, 1999-2001 – Bryant caught nine passes from rookie quarterback Charlie Frye, including a fourth-quarter touchdown, to help the Browns (6-10) rally past Baltimore, 20-16. The receiver finished with 123 yards on the afternoon.
Torrie Cox, DB/KR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1999-2002 – Cox did not play as the Buccaneers (11-5) ousted New Orleans 27-13 to clinch the NFC South.
Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona Cardinals, 2002-2003 – Fresh off his first selection to the annual Pro Bowl, Fitzgerald snatched six passes for 80 yards, one of them a 25-yard score in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Cardinals (5-11) fell to Indianapolis, 17-13.
Nick Goings, RB, Carolina Panthers, 1999-2000 – Goings carried twice for 18 yards and caught a pass for nine yards as the Panthers (11-5) routed the Falcons, 44-11. The win clinched a playoff berth for Carolina.
Andy Lee, P, San Francisco 49ers, 2000-2003 – Sunday was another busy afternoon for Lee, who punted nine times for a total of 312 yards. He also pinned one punt inside the 20-yard line as his 49ers (4-12) held off the Texans, 20-17, in overtime.
Curtis Martin, RB, NY Jets, 1991-1993 – Martin was sidelined with an injury as the Jets (4-12) rallied past the Bills, 30-26.
Rob Petitti, OL, Dallas Cowboys, 2001-2004 – Already eliminated from playoff contention because of Washington’s win earlier that day, Petitti’s Cowboys (9-7) ended the year on a sour note with a 20-10 loss to St. Louis. His line paved the way for only 57 Cowboy rushing yards and allowed quarterback Drew Bledsoe to be sacked five times.
Hank Poteat, DB, New England Patriots, 1996-1999 – Poteat collected seven tackles – six of them solo – but his Patriots (10-6) fell to the Miami Dolphins, 28-26. The loss meant little to the Patriots, though, as they had already wrapped up the division title and a first-round playoff date with Jacksonville this weekend.
Shawntae Spencer, DB, San Francisco 49ers, 2000-2003 – Spencer notched seven tackles, five of the solo variety, as his 49ers squeaked past the Texans.
