David Lee Roth – greatest front-man in rock history

I am writing about David J. McCarthy’s Dec. 3 column “Roth trying to resuscitate career –… I am writing about David J. McCarthy’s Dec. 3 column “Roth trying to resuscitate career — and fans.”

Personally, I don’t care if Diamond Dave chooses to become an EMT. The column was poorly written and really did nothing to provoke any thought. That all changed with McCarthy’s final paragraph where he suggested only 12 people still care about perhaps the greatest front-man in rock ‘n’ roll history.

At the peak of their glory, I was only a young lad (I’m dating myself a bit here), but my older brother, eight years my senior, brought me up on a steady diet of Fair Warning and Diver Down. These albums still cannot be touched by whatever the punk author listens to — I’m guessing Neil Diamond or Peter, Paul and Mary.

Pick up a copy of Women and Children First, junior, and you’ll see what I mean.

My only hope is that Diamond Dave himself, after reading this article, may respond to a call where you fell down and broke your hip after a night of keg-stands and beer bongs, and flea-kicks your sorry ass in the face.
