A Campus Safety concern

The signs were placed at high pedestrian traffic areas warning vehicles to slow down and permit walkers to cross the street safely.

Over a period of years, the program became so successful that four additional signs were added to other crosswalks. The signs were placed at their locations at 8 a.m., before classes, and removed after the evening classes.

Unfortunately, the signs have become so popular that unknown individuals started to remove them for whatever reasons. We have requested, and have received, replacements from PennDOT until this year. Their supply has run out.

The Pitt Police are looking for vendors to supply a similar safety sign for campus, and we are asking people to refrain from removing them. In the meantime, if anyone can assist us in locating the missing signs, we would appreciate it.
