Dark Night Cabaret celebrates fifth anniversary

Want a Monday night filled with live music, interpretive dance and clown skits, instead of… Want a Monday night filled with live music, interpretive dance and clown skits, instead of homework and studying? That’s exactly what you’ll get tonight as The Dark Night Cabaret celebrates its fifth anniversary.

The Dark Night Cabaret provides an opportunity for the local arts community to showcase its talents and develop new work. Produced by Dave Mansueto and Mark Whitehead, it’s an ongoing monthly performance series held in its new home, the Cathedral’s Studio Theatre.

This special performance will celebrate some of the Cabaret’s favorite performers from the past five years. The evening will be hosted by Big Daddy Bull Seal, a performance artist, poet and puppet master who has a knack for keeping the night interesting. Acclaimed theatrical clown Drew Richardson will perform some comical acts. Violinist Lisa Miles will present her new compositions for the electric guitar. Lisa Clark, an interpretative dancer, will perform some new pieces that take inspiration from Bulgarian folk traditions. And Bobby LaMonde, of the rock band The Science Fiction Idols, which won the Graffiti Rock Challenge, will perform a solo set.

The night promises to be fun and entertaining and is a nice start to the upcoming Thanksgiving break.

The Dark Night Cabaret holds its Fifth Anniversary Performance Monday at 8 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door or $4 with your student ID.
