The album was recorded in their home studio in Auburn, Ala. In that studio, they produced a sound so unique that it’s in a genre all its own.The vocals of Brooks Meeks and the almost angelic background vocals of Theresa Marie Fedor give a most intriguing and mysterious feeling to the nine tracks on this album. One that a sticks out in particular is “Homestead Goldmine,” where the seductive Meeks lures you in with not only his voice, but with the bluesy guitar that sets the mood of the song.
After several different lineup changes, The Close settled with guitarist/singer Meeks, bassist Dustan Nigro, and the newest additions, drummer Keefe Justice and vocalist/keyboardist Fedor.
It’s A Secret to Everybody is a great addition to a CD collection if you are interested in a touch of something different to spice it up and add a little flavor. The lyrics seem very simple and can be quite whiny at points, but overall, it’s a mixture of blues and classic rock that has a sound unlike anything around today. In the end, it’s a one-of-a-kind blend that definitely works.
