‘
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ We are three attractive young females who, in our opinion, are deserving of quality menfolk here at Pitt. We feel that we are good-looking, intelligent and fun. However, we seem to lack a selection of guys with similar attributes. It seems that college guys like beer and video games more than companionship with fun females. These young bachelors only seem interested when extremely intoxicated and most of them look for commitment-free sex. Where are all the quality gentlemen? Is it possible that college males have an unconscious fear of future responsibility and therefore act wild and recklessly now? The same guy that will talk your ear off on a Saturday night (in hopes of getting laid) will then look the other direction Monday morning in class. So what’s the deal? Help us, Sex N’at!
‘
Three Cool Chicas
‘
P.S. Most of the guys who DO act interested are nerdy, stalker-types and they don’t exactly resemble Brad Pitt (not even close)!
‘
Dear Chicas:
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Before I can even begin to answer your question, I have to take issue with a verbal tic you use that I’ve observed a lot lately, and that I detest.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘Females?’
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Females are goats with ovaries. You are women. The distinction is important. No matter what lyrics and videos tell you, you are more than your reproductive facilities. The same goes for the men you are seeking. They are more than ‘males.’ When applied to humans, those words need to remain adjectives, not nouns.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ So where can you find these glorious man-creatures?
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Not in the Dirty South keg-party dungeons you seem to be haunting. If you are encountering sloppy-drunk manwhores every time you look for Prince Charming, you need to refine your hunt.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ What is it about you that makes you fun and intelligent? Is it your passion for foreign movies? You aren’t likely to meet any other fans of Pedro Aldomovar’s films at a booty-shakin’ frat party, and if you do, they aren’t there to talk film with intelligent women, they are there to get drunk and possibly laid. It isn’t fair to judge people for partying too hard when you meet them at a party, after all.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Look places where there aren’t any video games and there isn’t any beer.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Look for men in their element — their intelligent, fun-loving and good-looking element. Even the most quality of menfolk like to let down their hair, so to speak, and get crazy sometimes, so you can’t expect them to be on their best behavior all the time. I bet none of you are always in top form. Figure out what kind of man you want to meet, and search accordingly. Get involved in your interests. It’s the best way to meet people who share them with you.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ The reason a lot of men you encounter act wild and reckless is because they are young and immature. This is college, after all. Some of these ‘men’ you are meeting are still teenagers. To say they are trying to avoid responsibility later is like saying a toddler who takes a little extra time potty training is trying to avoid setting a toilet-using precedent for later on. It’s silly. College men are still trying to figure out who they are and what they can do with their dicks when they don’t have to worry about curfew. Give ’em a little slack.
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ P.S. — Yinz are selling yourselves horribly short by discounting nerdy men who don’t look like Brad Pitt. Grow up a little and you’ll be amazed at what you find from average looking men.
