Clothing and money dropped for charity

Former SGB President Kevin Washo, along with two friends, took off his pants for a good… Former SGB President Kevin Washo, along with two friends, took off his pants for a good cause last Thursday evening at the second annual Charity Date Auction.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Washo depantsed after receiving a $170 bid for a date with him to the Lava Lounge.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘What the hell. We’ll just go [on stage] even if we make fools of ourselves,’ a fully clothed Washo said after the action.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ The action, organized by Pitt’s College Democrats, featured prominent student leaders, who were auctioned off in package deals that included donated meals at various establishments in the area.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Student Government Board President Liz Culliton, College Republican President Brandon Boyd and Pitt News Editor in Chief Greg Heller-Labelle were among those auctioned off Thursday night.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Sabrina Spiher, president of Pitt’s College Democrats, and SGB member Brian Kelly served as masters of ceremony for the evening.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Lights flashed across the stage in the Assembly Room at the William Pitt Union, as Spiher began what she described as ‘pimping out the student leaders of Pitt.’

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Each person being auctioned strutted across stage while members of the crowd bid on a chance to spend an evening with the student leader of their choice.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Spiher and Kelly informed the audience of the leaders’ self-proclaimed favorite parts of the body, favorite alcoholic beverages and reasons why each was the hottest person in the room.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Amanda Brabson, member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Greek Week manager, said her favorite alcoholic beverage was ‘anything that is 130-proof.’

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Sigma Alpha Epsilon President Danny Shin said he was the hottest person in the room because people call him ‘Tripod.’

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ The bids started low but began to break three digits after the sixth date.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Leaders with top bids included Culliton, who garnered $215 for a date at The Cliffside Restaurant, Washo, who got $170, and Brenden Harris, Former College Democrats president, who earned $150 for a date at Mullaney’s Harp ‘amp; Fiddle.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ The event raised more than $1,300 for the Free Care Fund at Children’s Hospital.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ Local business donated the restaurant gift certificates included in each of the auctioned dates.

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘Everyone throughout Oakland, Shadyside and the Waterfront were really generous,’ Lauren Harris, the fund-raising director, said of the areas from which restaurants donated gift certificates.
