Posh Asian nosh

It feels like a comfortable cubby inside, and with three levels and a cozy ambience, the restaurant is more vertical than horizontal. Soba is described as a Pan-Asian restaurant, yet there are many flavors that line the menu and soothe the palette.

The ambience is romantic, perfect for a date yet chic enough for cocktails with co-workers, while beaded walls and velvet curtains trim this stylish dinner stop. Water trickles down a wall of dark stone, soothing the ear, while music by Sade plays in the background. The wait staff is friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and answering questions. The service has perfect timing.

The menu is creative and innovative, with tar-tar as a favorite appetizer and sesame-seared tuna a delectable entree. The meats are also flavored to perfection but the seafood and the yellow curry lamb are filled with zest for your culinary satisfaction. There are vegetarian options as well.

Desserts, like the mouth-watering chocolate cake filled with hazelnut cream or the fruity sorbet, can top off the evening on a sweet note.

It is also affordable when all details are considered: a chic setting, flavorful and creative entrees and a real dining experience. For two people, the approximate cost is $30, as entrees range from $10-15.

Put Soba on your list for a guaranteed special evening.
