The fourth concert to be held at the Petersen Events Center is upon us, and it happens Thursday night when New Found Glory and Good Charlotte take the stage, blasting their pop-punk anthems through the rafters of The Pete.

Led by lead singer Jordan Pundik, New Found Glory mostly sings songs about girls and all the weird things about them. But with their most recent album, Sticks and Stones, they try to be more diverse and mix in songs about moving to a different city and state and even do a song about Jordan’s grandfather passing away.

But still, the latest release has its songs about the ladies, and one of them, “My Friends Over You,” a song about taking the easy route out of a bad relationship, became a big hit on MTV. Every song that New Found Glory has recently released has been a huge hit on MTV, where they gathered a large fan following from the younger teen-age audience.

Their tour mates, Good Charlotte, have also found themselves all over MTV. Their videos have seen major airplay, and it doesn’t hurt that twin brothers Benji and Joel Madden, who front the band, host “All Things Rock.”

Good Charlotte’s recent release, The Young and the Hopeless, helped them gather a larger fan base with their first two singles, “Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous” and “The Anthem.” Their fan base is very similar to that of New Found Glory’s: focused on the teen-age TRL viewers.

No matter what kind of a fan base these two bands amass, they prove that they can bring it onstage. Both bands were in the Pittsburgh area last semester, and together they come into the Pete ready to rock the campus.
