If you haven’t heard the debut song from Evanescence, I seriously have to ask where you have been. It has been played over and over, and it seems like everyone wants to get their hands on it.

The song in question, “Bring Me to Life,” has been featured on the “Daredevil” soundtrack, one of the recent World Wrestling Entertainment Pay-Per-View events as well as finding its way into serious radio and television airplay.

The eerie rock song mirrors the sound of Linkin Park, and with the appearance of 12 Stones lead singer, Paul McCoy, it sounds like something Linkin Park would produce.

The debut album from Evanescence, a band from Little Rock, Ark., is an album that, from start to finish, rocks with loud guitars and piano. Evanescence is led by a young and talented 20-year-old, Amy Lee, who formed the band by meeting guitarist Ben Moody at a youth camp in their teen-age years.

The quartet labels themselves as a rock band, playing epic and dark music. They pull it off in every track, the most powerful songs “Haunted” and “Tourniquet.” Both tracks are awash with pain and anguish.

Other tracks on the album are songs of hope for tragic times, songs of power that provide a comforting sense. “Hello” and “My Immortal,” which also appears on the “Daredevil” soundtrack, are both slower, and feature Lee’s driving piano playing. Throughout the entire album, the hauntingly beautiful voice of Lee floats throughout, powered by a hard and dark rock sound.

The band’s name is defined as a dissipation or disappearance; like vapor, but I hope for everyone in the music world, they don’t follow through with the disappearing act and stick around for the long haul.
