For those stuck in the city, you aren’t at a total loss.
About a month ago The Pittsburgh Sound Project began. Everyone was encouraged to go to www.pghsoundproject.com and listen and vote for your favorite song/band for a chance to play the finals at Hard Rock, free studio time and other prizes. Those who didn’t voice their democratic rights by voting online for the local winners should be ashamed – but I am here to offer redemption. The show starts at 8:30 p.m., so you can still catch the 300-something-th episode of “The Simpsons.”
Playing for the grand prize are the four weekly winners of the project – Vicious Cycle, the Last Hope, Quake and Fullproof. As a result of votes at large, Holden Caufield and Graffiti Rock Challenge finalists Luca Brazi will join the bill at Hard Rock Cafe.
It will only run you $5, which means you have another $5 to get you through the lonely week in Pittsburgh. Buy a cheep souvenir of the week, or send some Pitt postcards to the ‘rents. Take advantage of the museums, catch up on some homework or just enjoy the peaceful week. Whatever you do, enjoy the break and I’ll see you in two weeks.
