Tonight, 7 p.m.
Public Health Auditorium, $4
It’s almost that time: Classes are grinding through midterms, and Spring Break is just around the corner. What else could you use to wind down than a killer show tonight before you head out of town?
Some of the most energetic acts around will tear the Public Health Auditorium down, but with enough melody and heartfelt love to keep the masses entertained and have their hearts touched. Not only that, but the proceeds from this show will benefit the Pittsburgh Organizing Group and Thomas Merton Center; the Student Community Organizing Group sponsors the show.
The bands on tap include Lorelei, a trio of talented musicians from the Pittsburgh area, much like the other three. They fight the typical rock archetype by playing minimalist and chill music, but use two basses and drums, no guitars. More information about them can be found at their Web site, www.ice-made.com.
Lexus Jumps and The Channel should be household names by now, at least in Oakland. Lexus Jumps is a five-piece mixed bag of aggressive and melodic rock with singing and screaming female vocals that will knock you to the floor. The Channel is a three-piece comprised of an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar and a drum kit. The vocal melodies are nothing short of jaw-dropping, so you best check these bands out.
As if that wasn’t enough to bait you into watching the show, Intense Youth will knock you on your ass with a punk/hardcore sound that will leave you gasping for air. Yes, there is a lot of intensity building up for this show. Yes, the proceeds will go to a good cause. No, you should not miss this show, because it will be the kick-start you need before Spring Break.
