Kenneth Mohney will give a speech titled “Steubenville Projectile Points: Social and Technical Functions in the Panhandle Archaic of the Upper Ohio River Valley” at 3 p.m. in Room 3D10 Posvar Hall.

In 343 Alumni Hall at 3:30 p.m., Paul Churchland will give a lecture titled “Are Qualia Inaccessible to Physical Science? How Neuroscience Predicts the Existence of Entirely Novel and Commonsensically Impossible Subjective Color Sensations.”

Students interested in a federal government career can attend Federal Career Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in rooms 2K, 2M and 2P56 of Posvar Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 7

At 11 a.m. in Trees Pool, the women’s swimming and diving team will compete against Notre Dame.

Sunday, Dec. 8

Pitt Nationality Rooms’ Open House will take place from noon until 4 p.m. in the Cathedral Commons Room. The event will feature food, craft demonstrations, tours and entertainers in native costume.

A Christmas candlelit concert will be presented in the First Methodist Church of Pittsburgh. The bell choir will begin at 7 p.m. and the chancel choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow.

Monday, Dec. 9

Palestinian General Foundation of Trade Unions representatives will speak about the economic situation in Palestine in Room 1200 of the Cathedral at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

In the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic Auditorium at noon, Jessica Berg will give a lecture titled “Grave secrets: Ethical and Legal Implications of Postmortem Confidentiality.”

Thursday, Dec. 12

Thomas Mullane will give a speech titled “Feeding Lines to the Christians: the Autobiographical Case Study of a Polynesian Religious Reformer in Fiji.” The speech will take place at 1 p.m. in Room 3D10 of Posvar Hall.

Roger Harrison, a former U.S. ambassador to Jordan, will give a talk titled “War with Iraq? Issues, Perspectives, Consequences” at noon in the Founders Room of the Duquesne Club.
