• Officer Curtis Smith and Pitt police will hold a self-defense training session in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room from noon to 2 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 24

• Pitt’s History of Art and Architecture department will present a lecture by professor Karen Gerhart in Room 203 of the Frick Fine Arts Building at noon.

Friday, Oct. 25

• Student Volunteer Outreach will hold the Schenley Park Stewards event to clean up Schenley Park from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For information, students and organizations can call SVO at 624-1065 or e-mail them at service@pitt.edu

• The swimming and diving team will take on St. Bonaventure University at 3 p.m. in Trees Pool.

• The department of classics will present a lecture by Andrew R. Dyck of the University of California at Los Angeles at 3:30 p.m. in Cathedral of Learning Room 149.

• The women’s soccer team will play Ohio University at 7 p.m. at Founders Field.

• Pitt Program Council will present a fireworks and laser show over Bigelow Boulevard at 9 p.m. After the show, the William Pitt Union Extravaganza will begin in the Union at 9:30 p.m. For more information call 648-7900 or visit www.pitt.edu/~ppc.

Saturday, Oct. 26

• Men’s football will have its Homecoming game vs. Boston College at noon on Heinz Field.

• Robert Sutherland Lord will perform a Homecoming Organ Recital at Heinz Chapel at 8:30 p.m. For more information about the free event call 624-4126

Sunday, Oct. 27

• The women’s soccer team will take on Syracuse University at 1 p.m. at Founders Field.

Monday, Oct. 28

• The Pitt Jazz seminar will begin, and take place through Nov. 2. Call 624-4187 for more information.

• Pitt Program Council will present the jazz remnants collected by Nathan Davis in the Conney M. Kimbo Gallery during Pitt’s jazz seminar. The exhibit will close Nov. 2.

• Visiting scholars from Ukraine will present a lecture at 3:30 p.m. in Room 4E51 of Posvar Hall.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

• Men’s soccer will play Cleveland State University at 7 p.m. at Founders Field.

• At 8 p.m., the University Chamber Orchestra will present a free Halloween concert at Bellefield Hall Auditorium.
