When you think of “Christian rock band” you might think of a group of people singing “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” over and over on every song. You might have more, shall we say, carnal knowledge about music and think of such popular Christian rock bands such as MXPX, P.O.D. and dc Talk, all of whom sing about their faith in a way that sends a message but isn’t preaching.

Now you can add a new band to that list – Everyday Sunday.

Coming from Columbus, Ohio, Everyday Sunday is a foursome born of a close-knit youth group who sings about their faith with emotion and spirit. Mixing the sound of frontman Trey Pearson with the catchy pop rock sound of the rest of the band comprised of Andrew Martin on guitar, Dan Hunter on bass and Chris Hines on drums. The result is not your typical Christian rock band. And with their Flicker Records debut Stand Up, which found its way into record stores Sept. 24, Everyday Sunday has found a way to share their view on life and everything in it.

Stand Up is the product of musical and spiritual growth, filled with straightforward lyrics and aggressive guitars and drums which make heads bob and feet tap. Songs of experiences flow through this 11-track album, with ballads like “Hanging On” and “This Time” where the acoustic guitar backs beautiful lyrics about finding faith and keeping a hold of it, through good times and bad. And with upbeat songs like the title track and “Wait,” Everyday Sunday sings about their favorite subject while they keep the tempo flowing and the toes tapping.

With a different style and a different take on the Christian rock scene, Everyday Sunday hopes to attract all fans of music to this album, and with the catchy and upbeat rock sound that they bring to the table, Everyday Sunday should attract some new fans and get their word out.
