In the next few weeks, Oakland will be served up a healthy a dose of punk, and it starts tonight when the band Midtown, who is promoting their CD titled Living is the best revenge, headlines the intimate stage at Club Laga.

The members of Midtown are not typical California-style punk rockers. They have their fun, but they also have a serious side. All are devoted vegetarians and animal rights supporters. Animal rights are a subject they feel strongly about, and they place fliers about animal rights at their shows, in addition to talking about it in their album liner notes, in hopes that other people will follow their example and look into helping the cause.

Midtown, after the crowd is already pumped with adrenaline from the energetic openers, will kick the energy up even another notch. With fun, catchy songs with meaningful lyrics and a raucous stage show, Midtown will take the stage running and not look back.

To get the crowd prepped for an adrenaline-pumped show, Armor for Sleep, Recover and Taking Back Sunday will join the tour with Midtown. Armor for Sleep recently rearranged its lineup, losing two members but quickly picking up replacements. This tour is a big stepping stone for Armor for Sleep; this will be their first tour playing in front of large amounts of people.

Following Armor for Sleep, Recover will bring intense guitar work and catchy hardcore lyrics. The members of Recover are touring to promote their new album, Ceci N’est Pas Recover.

The members of Taking Back Sunday released their first album, Tell All Your Friends, on Victory Records earlier this summer and look to get the crowd moving with their upbeat songs and energetic stage presence. For fans looking for high-powered energy, each of these opening bands will not only deliver, but will leave the audience panting for more – Midtown.
