Embracing the Maine mentality

So I decided to spend my summer working at a Christian camp in Maine.

I start the column off… So I decided to spend my summer working at a Christian camp in Maine.

I start the column off with “So” because it’s comfortable, conversational. It makes you feel like we’ve been talking for a while, and it assumes that you are already interested in whatever I have to say. In doing so, it opens you up to a mentality that is laid-back, relaxed and typically Maine.

The charm of Maine is powerful for me because it reaffirms everything that I’ve wanted to believe about myself and my goals. Spend a few months in an environment as sweet and simple as this and your ambition starts to lose some of its edge. The focus doesn’t lie on money or acclaim, but on happiness and making an honest
