Schmidt gives track team another qualifier

The track team headed south again over the weekend to Durham, N.C., for the Duke Invitational…. The track team headed south again over the weekend to Durham, N.C., for the Duke Invitational.

The team had just been to nearby Raleigh the week before and there must be something in the air down there.

Pitt Runners had another solid performance and even came away with another provisional qualification for the national championships.

That qualification came courtesy of senior Amanda Schmidt in the 10,000-meter race.

It was the first time Schmidt ran the longest of the outdoor events since last spring, and she made the most of it. Schmidt won the race with a time of 34 minutes, 56.22 seconds, which is also a personal best by more than a minute and a half.
