Keith Schmidt, a representative from U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum’s Western Pennsylvania office, speaks to Nick Havens, the president of Pitt’s College Republicans and Suneal Chandran, a Carnegie Mellon University student.

“I am confident [the Republicans] will take back the majority this fall,” he said. He said there are 14 major senatorial races involving Republicans in November. The College Republicans also heard from Bill Miller, campaign manager for state Sen. Melissa Hart, who said he was interested in recruiting volunteers and interns. Miller said Pitt has the strongest chapter of College Republicans in the Pittsburgh area and that he is interested in getting in touch with grassroots college students who can devote time to the campaign.
