The Santa was one of many items being sold at the rummage sale hosted by Amnesty International and held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kurtzman Room of the Union. Several other campus organizations participated in the event, including the Lady Panther Lacrosse Club, Friends of Animals, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the International Social Organization and Circle K. Members from each group donated items for the rummage sale.
Nicholas Perrusquia and Linda Santelices, the respective president and vice president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, said they were happy with what they had sold. They are hoping to raise money for conference trips around the United States and other social events.
Perrusquia, Santelices and Fernando Arguel founded a chapter of SHPE at Pitt three months ago.
