The problem with being the most creative, respected and well-loved band in the world is that there are no standards as impossible to meet as the ones you accidentally set yourself.
If any band other than Radiohead had released the album Amnesiac, every critic would give it a perfect score and sing its praises with the fervor of a gospel choir. But after Radiohead’s brilliant album OK Computer made our collective pulse race, we expect everything after it to give us a heart attack. That’s why Kid A got mixed reviews and why, now, so is Amnesiac.
