Wrestling: Pitt to host 2015 ACC Championship

Pitt will host the ACC Wrestling Championship next year, the conference announced in a release, Thursday.

Happening on March 8, it will be the first conference tournament Pitt puts on as a member of its new league, which it joined in July 2013.

The venue will be the Petersen Events Center, a change from the team’s normal venue of Fitzgerald Field House, with Pitt welcoming five other schools.

The Panthers ended this past season 22nd in the nation at the NCAA Championships. By finishing in the top eight of his weight class, senior Matt Wilps attained All-American status.

The team also won the regular season ACC team title.
