Citing health code violations, the Allegheny County Health Department has shut down the Bombay Curry House in Oakland.
The Department shut down Bombay Curry, located at 346 Atwood St., on June 2 for multiple infractions, according to a Health Department alert. Infractions include operating without a health permit, unsafe cold holding temperatures, using a dishwasher that didn’t adequately sanitize dishes, using an inadequate sneeze guard and failure to submit plans to the County. The restaurant had opened for the first time on May 29.
Rafiq Shaikh, owner of the Bombay Curry House, confirmed that the Health Department had closed his restaurant, but said he was one day away from complying. He is waiting on his permit from the Health Department, he said, which he expects to receive later today.
“Everything is all set to go for tomorrow,” Shaikh said.
Melissa Wade, a representative for the Allegheny County Health Department could not immediately comment on the status of the restaurant.
