Man struck by bus in Oakland

An unidentified man was hit by a Port Authority bus Friday afternoon in Oakland, according to Port Authority spokesperson Jim Ritchie.

The 71 A bus heading outbound toward Shadyside struck the man at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard at approximately 4:30 p.m. The man sustained a laceration on his head and was taken to UMPC Presbyterian hospital, Ritchie said.

Ritchie said the police had not yet determined the cause of the accident but were investigating and reviewing surveillance footage from the bus.

Pitt spokesperson John Fedele did not immediately return a call for comment asking if the man was affiliated with Pitt.
