Due to a solid weekend performance at Towson University, some members of the Pitt gymnastics team were beaming Tuesday.
Two members of the Pitt gymnastics team earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League weekly honors, as seniors Lindsay Offutt and Miya Dotson earned Gymnast of the Week and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for their performance at Shelli Calloway Invitational last Friday.
Offutt became Pitt’s all-time score leader last week, scoring 39.575 at the invitational. The award was her third-straight EAGL Gymnast of the Week win.
Dotson finished in the top five in every one of her events, with strong performances on the bars, floor and vault.
“These two were part of a super team performance on Friday night,” head coach Debbie Yohman said in a release. “Lindsay [Offutt] was solid throughout the evening, and after starting on beam and floor — which are her best two events — she continued accelerating through vault and bars. Watching Miya [Dotson], then Lindsay swing on bars was awesome. They were so big and stretched and on the edge. It was very memorable and worth every tenth.”
Offutt, Dotson and the Panthers return to the Fitzgerald Field House Saturday, taking on Texas Woman’s University at 2 p.m.
