Women’s Basketball: Panthers downed by last-place Hokies

The Pitt women’s basketball team dropped a crucial road game in Blacksburg, Va., on Thursday night, falling to Virginia Tech, 69-62.

The Panthers (11-16, 3-10 ACC) now sit in a tie for 12th place with Clemson and Boston College, one spot ahead of the last-place Hokies.

Virginia Tech (12-14, 2-11 ACC) received a game-high 21 points from freshman point guard Vanessa Panousis. Junior point guard Brianna Kiesel led Pitt with 20 points.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday afternoon at Syracuse.
