Pitt Program Council Presents: “Inside Llewyn Davis”

PPC will be hosting an exclusive advanced screening of the new Coen Brothers’ film “Inside Llewyn Davis,” a film that is already being mentioned in Oscar conversations. It’s the only advance screening in Pittsburgh, and it’s right on campus.

Behind Our Scenes

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust

Admission: Free

An exploration of the limits and challenges of the medium of photography, this exhibit — which features work from artists Nancy Andrews, Leo Hsu, Dennis Marsico, Annie O’Neill and Barbara Weissberger — is an exercise in showing how the act of converting a three-dimensional landscape into a two-dimensional image carries limits.

“Kill Your Darlings”

A film about the Beat Generation set before anyone thought of them as such, this film, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Foster and Michael C. Hall, tells the story of the crime that drew together the likes of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs while Ginsberg was at Columbia University.

After six studio albums and the replacement of all the band’s original members, save for guitarist Chris Day, Metalcore band Norma Jean returns to the Strip District with openers Vanna and The Greenery.

Winterfest presented by East End Food Co-op

Tickets: $5 for East End Food Co-op members, $8 for general public, and an additional $5 for those who would like to consume alcohol

Join East End Food Co-op for their annual holiday celebration. Festivities include delicious vegan and vegetarian delicacies, local beer samples and live music. All the proceeds go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The Misfits

The Misfits will come to town on Sunday to bring their classic brand of horror-punk to Altar Bar. Though unrecognizable from their original incarnation — bassist and lead vocalist Jerry Only is the only remaining member from the glory days — it promises to be a good show from a legendary punk rock act.
