Flower child
In Beijing, a 16-month-old girl was taken to the doctor after suffering for four months from a suspected ear infection. When doctors examined the girl’s ears, they noticed a dandelion seed had become stuck in her ear canal and sprouted. The seed had grown to 2 centimeters long before doctors removed it. The sprout did not cause any lasting damage. Regardless, this is certainly an ear-ie story.
The power of Christ expels you
While visiting a church in a suburb of Rome, Pope Francis talked about the jobs he held prior to his call to the holy life. After working in a laboratory and sweeping floors as a teenager, the pope spent time as a bouncer at a Buenos Aires, Argentina, nightclub. Although the pontiff did not elaborate on his experiences working at a nightclub, we can’t blame him. Hey, he had to make it through the seminary, somehow.
Smack and cheese
A man from Spartanburg County, S.C., has been charged with third-degree assault and battery after attacking his father. According to police reports, Brian Rossi approached his son, Alex Rossi, and inquired about cheese packets that were missing from a box of macaroni and cheese. Alex Rossi then chased his father and attacked him, punching him in the face and head. Brian Rossi suffered no visible injuries in the altercation. To us, this story sounds awfully cheesy.
Earl of Lexington
Henry Earl, of Lexington, Ky., has earned the title of the most arrested man in the world. Earl, who has been arrested 1,267 times since 1970, was arrested most recently for being drunk outside of a fast food restaurant in Lexington. His other arrests range from carrying a concealed weapon to being drunk and disorderly. Overall, Earl has spent almost 6,000 days behind bars. Perhaps Dos Equis should consider a new spokesman — “The Most Arrested Man in the World.”
Starstruck
A 7-year-old boy was playing in his driveway in Loxahatchee, Fla., when he was struck in the head by a cascade of small meteorites. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for a small gash resulting from the incident. The meteorites that hit the boy had broken off a larger rock that landed nearby. Perhaps Chicken Little had it right, “The sky is falling!”
