Pitt women beat Cal 97-67 in exhibition

The Pitt women’s basketball team downed California University (Pa.) 97-67, in the Panthers only exhibition game Sunday at the Petersen Events Center.

The contest was head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio’s first since she was hired on April 12 to guide the Pitt program into the Atlantic Coast Conference.

6-foot-11 redshirt freshman Marvadene “Bubbles” Anderson led Pitt in scoring in her first collegiate action, posting a game-high 20 points in 13 minutes of play.

Anderson shot a remarkable 90.9 percent (10-11) from the field.

Junior guard Kaitlynn Fratz led California with 19 points.

The Panthers first regular season game is set for Friday, Nov. 8 at the Petersen Events Center against Bucknell. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.
