Pitt’s women’s soccer team (4-9-1, 0-8 ACC) lost to the Miami Hurricanes (8-4, 3-4 ACC) by a score of 1-0 Thursday. The loss dropped the Panthers to 0-8 this year in ACC play.
After struggling mightily against Syracuse Sunday afternoon, this result is a positive one for the team, as they hung with the talented Hurricanes. In the game, Miami outshot Pitt, 15-7, with both teams tallying five shots on goal.
The lone goal of the match was scored by the Hurricanes in the 67th on a free kick by reigning ACC Player of the week Ashley Flinn. It was her ninth goal of the season.
Redshirt junior Nicole D’Agostino recorded another four saves in the game for Pitt and now has 81 saves on the season.
The Panthers will play Sunday against No. 3 Florida State, when they complete the second of two Florida road games. Kickoff from the Seminole Sports Complex is set for 1 p.m.
