It’s been a slow affair thus far, with only 169 total yards of offense recorded between the two teams. Pitt outgained Virginia 94 yards to 75, but the current 14-0 margin is a result of the two turnovers committed by Virginia in its own territory. Virginia has kept the ball mostly on the ground, running the ball 23 out of 32 plays. Pitt has been more balanced with 19 passes and 18 rushes.
2:05: HALFTIME. PITT 14, VIRGINIA 0. Pitt forced a three-and-out on the Cavaliers and forced a punt with 13 seconds left from the Virginia two. Savage was sacked for a loss of 19 to end the half, and a scoreless second quarter.

12:58: TOUCHDOWN PITT. James Conner takes a handoff and runs over safety Brandon Phelps en route to a six-yard touchdown. Extra point is good, Pitt leads Virginia 7-0 with 5:28 left in the first.
