2:12: Halftime Stats–

It’s been a slow affair thus far, with only 169 total yards of offense recorded between the two teams. Pitt outgained Virginia 94 yards to 75, but the current 14-0 margin is a result of the two turnovers committed by Virginia in its own territory. Virginia has kept the ball mostly on the ground, running the ball 23 out of 32 plays. Pitt has been more balanced with 19 passes and 18 rushes. 

2:05: HALFTIME. PITT 14, VIRGINIA 0. Pitt forced a three-and-out on the Cavaliers and forced a punt with 13 seconds left from the Virginia two. Savage was sacked for a loss of 19 to end the half, and a scoreless second quarter. 

2:01: Blewitt misses a field goal from about 35 yards out, missed left from the left hash mark. Virginia takes over possession at its own 20 with just over a minute to play in the half. 

1:50: Pitt stops Virginia for a second time on fourth down, Ray Vinopal breaks up Watford’s pass attempt. Pitt takes over on its own 28. 

1:43: Pitt goes three-and-out, now 2-for-6 on third downs this game. Terrell’s return of Yoklic’s punt starts the Cavaliers at their own 39-yard line. 

1:38: Virginia goes for it on 4th & 2, Todd Thomas stopped a shovel pass for no gain. Pitt re-takes possession on its own 27 with 8:21 remaining in the half. 

1:35: Pitt turns the ball over on its own 35, Savage is intercepted looking for Boyd on a slant pattern. Demetrious Nicholson stepped in and forced a turnover for Virginia. 

1:31: Pitt prevents Watford from getting the first on a 14-yard carry on 3rd & 16. Pitt takes over at its own 17 after a four-yard punt return by Kevin Weatherspoon. 

1:24: Pitt goes three-and-out to start the second quarter. Yoklic’s punt ends up on the Virginia 9.

1:18: PITT 14, VIRGINIA 0. END OF FIRST QUARTER.

1:17: Pitt forces a three-and-out, aided by a snap over Watford’s head which put Virginia in a 3rd & 25 at its own 8. Pitt takes over at its own 38 after Alec Vozenilek’s punt.

1:10: TOUCHDOWN PITT. Savage throws over Street’s shoulder on a flag route to the back corner of the end zone from 15 yards out. This followed a Pitt recovery of a fumble by UVA quarterback David Watford. Pitt 14, Virginia 0 with 2:28 to play in the first quarter.

12:58: TOUCHDOWN PITT. James Conner takes a handoff and runs over safety Brandon Phelps en route to a six-yard touchdown. Extra point is good, Pitt leads Virginia 7-0 with 5:28 left in the first. 

12:56: Savage goes over the middle on 3rd & 10 to Street for 13 yards, down to the Virginia 6. First and goal for Pitt.

12:55: Pitt’s drive stalls, but the Panthers catch a break when Matt Yoklic’s punt bounces off Virginia returner Dominique Terrell’s foot. Pitt ball at the Virginia 19.

12:51: After two rushes go nowhere, Savage and Boyd connect for a pass as Boyd goes out of bounds near the 27. Play is reviewed, confirmed, and ruled a first down for Pitt. 

12:47: Pitt has its first first down of the game, as James Conner starts the drive with a 11-yard rush to the Pitt 17. 

12:41: Virginia rushes on five of its first six plays, and picks up the game’s first first down. Pitt halts the Cavaliers at the 45 after an incomplete pass on 3rd & 7. Virginia punts to the Pitt 6-yard line on Kevin Weatherspoon’s fair catch.

12:38: Pitt goes three-and-out after a five-yard penalty on first down. Matt Yoklic’s punt goes 57 yards, Virginia starts its first drive at its own 23.

12:34: Pitt wins the toss and receives. Tyler Boyd downs Ian Frye’s kick, Pitt starts at the 25.
