The Pitt News has been the University of Pittsburgh’s award-winning daily student newspaper since 1910. The newspaper publishes daily during the fall and spring semesters, and weekly during the summer, with 10,000 copies distributed to campus newsstands. The paper has won prestigious awards from the Associated College Press (widely considered to be the “Pulitzer Prizes” of college journalism), Columbia Scholastic Press Association, College Media Business & Advertising Managers and the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association.
Funded through advertising revenue, The Pitt News employs more than 100 students who write and edit stories for the weekly print newspaper and daily online edition, sell ads and engage with the campus community. The Pitt News covers everything from opinions and campus news to cultural events, sports and more. The Pitt News strives to provide the Pitt student body and the city of Pittsburgh with accurate and informing news and editorial content.
