Police issue crime alert on midday robbery

Police are looking for a man who robbed a female college student on Atwood Street midday… Police are looking for a man who robbed a female college student on Atwood Street midday Tuesday.

The robbery did not involve any weapons and the victim was not injured, according to a crime alert issued by Pitt police Tuesday.

The victim, a college student who does not go to Pitt, was walking up Atwood Street towards Forbes Ave about 12:45 p.m. when the suspect pushed her from behind. She dropped her cell phone, which the suspect grabbed and then ran towards Forbes Ave, according to the crime alert.

The alert described the suspect as a 6-foot black male with short-shaved hair, wearing a long white t-shirt and faded, light blue jeans.

The alert encouraged anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Pitt police at 412-624-2121.
