Panthers hold at No. 24 in AP poll

Pitt football maintained its No. 24 ranking in the Associated Press’ weekly football rankings after beating Rhode Island at home. They also jumped back into the USA TODAY coaches poll rankings at No. 24, which they dropped out of last week.

This week’s AP poll again features five ACC teams — No. 5 Clemson and No. 10 NC State both cracked the top-ten, with No. 22 Wake Forest and No. 23 Florida State occupying the two spots ahead of the Panthers. Miami dropped out of the poll following its 14-point loss to Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

The coaches poll features six ACC teams, with Clemson again ranked in the No. 5 spot and NC State jumping to No. 10. No. 21 Wake Forest and newly ranked No. 22 FSU are both ranked above the Panthers, with No. 25 Syracuse just sneaking into the rankings.

With Miami dropping out, Pitt now has zero ranked opponents on its calendar for the rest of their season, with the exception of Syracuse in the coaches poll.
