Magisterial District Judge Kim Berkeley Clark dismissed the abuse of corpse charge against Pitt student Amay Gupta at his preliminary hearing on Tuesday morning.
Gupta, 19, of Fremont, California, and fellow Pitt student Sonel Jimenez, 20, of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, were each charged with abuse of a corpse after they allegedly made inappropriate comments while examining medical cadavers during an anatomy class in November. Gupta allegedly stuck his fingers into the male cadaver’s chest while making inappropriate comments, according to the criminal complaint.
A Pitt spokesperson declined to comment on the dismissal.
Jimenez’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9.
