Meet the editors: Sports

The sports desk at The Pitt News wants to bring Pitt fans as much sports content as possible. From a feature for club sports at Pitt to the ACC Championships, the sports desk has Pitt fans covered. Follow @pittnewssports on X and Instagram to follow along all season long.

Aidan Kasner, Sports Editor

I’m Aidan Kasner and I am thrilled to hold the position of head sports editor for this upcoming year. I started writing for The Pitt News in my second semester of my first year and now as a rising sophomore, I am excited to get to work in my new position. I study communications and psychology and hope to attend graduate school in the future. When I am not watching a Pitt basketball game or messaging other writers on Slack, I enjoy running, working out and spending quality time with friends and family. I am eager to make this year one to remember.

Matthew Scabilloni, Assistant Sports Editor

I’m Matthew Scabilloni and I am honored to work as the assistant sports editor for The Pitt News for the upcoming school year. I am a junior who studies media and professional communication in the College of General Studies with a certificate in sports studies. This is my fourth semester working for the Pitt News and I am excited to continue to cover as much Pitt volleyball and other Panthers sports as possible for The Pitt News.

When I am not taking classes in Cathy or working for The Pitt News, I am either golfing, watching Pittsburgh sports teams fail to meet expectations or hanging out with my friends and family. I’m excited for all The Pitt News readers to enjoy the content the sports desk will publish this year.
