A 37-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a box truck at the intersection of Terrace Street and Darragh Street just before 5:45 a.m. on Thursday morning. The woman was transported to UPMC Presbyterian by Pittsburgh EMS in grave condition and was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m.
According to City of Pittsburgh Police, the initial investigation indicated that the woman was using a crosswalk on Darragh Street when she was hit. City police say they have located the driver and his vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing.
A similar incident occurred about one year ago when a UPMC shuttle struck and killed a woman on Terrace Street and Sutherland Drive, one street away from where Thursday’s incident occurred.
