The letter criticized The Pitt News for its sex issue, but Lomuscio failed to notice the benefits of the issue. Sexual health is an incredibly important and yet often undiscussed aspect of life for many college students. Lomuscio did not acknowledge the constructive articles in the issue, such as articles that encouraged safe sex and advocated STI testing for all sexually active students. It is altogether unfair and ignorant of Lomuscio to label The Pitt News as a ‘trashy publication’ because it took one day off for the first time in four years to discuss the importance of sexual health ‘mdash; as well as to have some fun and write about strip clubs and condom reviews. Lomuscio said that the issue showed a ‘complete and indisputable’ disconnect between The Pitt News and its purpose to serve the campus with news. This seems odd to me, because, as a member of the Pitt community, I found the issue to be interesting and informative. Maybe Lomuscio just needs to lighten up.
