McCoy to stay next season

Despite McCoy’s status as a sophomore at Pitt, he attended prep school for one year after high school. The NFL allows players to enter its draft three years after finishing high school. McCoy will reach that level after he plays his final game of the year. McCoy wanted to address the rumors that began to surface of him leaving for the professional ranks. ‘That’s something I want to squash and get it over with,’ said McCoy to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. ‘I don’t like talking about it or anything. I’m kind of getting fed up with it.’ ‘I’m not going anywhere. There’s a lot of stuff I’ve got to prove. I don’t think I did enough here at this university. There’s a lot left to achieve here.’ Through 10 games this year, McCoy has 1,125 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, to go along with 26 catches for 279 yards. As a freshman last season, McCoy ran for 1,328 yards and 14 scores. Many scouting publications have rated McCoy as a potential first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft if he decided to take that route.
