Catch Sheryl Underwood at the Improv this weekend

Sure, with the constant touring and chance of failure, venues canceling on you and the possibility that you might be having the worst night of your life while trying to be funny. Yeah, of course it’s easy.

One woman who has been recognized as one of the funniest women in comedy, Sheryl Underwood, will make a stop during her constant touring, in Pittsburgh, this weekend, to headline at the Improv at the Waterfront.

Sheryl Underwood is known for saying what’s on her mind about anything. From sex to drugs to politics, no topic is off the radar for Underwood. She has a knack for bringing adult conversation to the stage with grace and ease. The whole time, she is working to get the audience to understand what she is saying, even when they might not agree with it.

Underwood has over 12 years of experience and a master’s degree to her name, but continues to work hard, for herself and for others. She donates 5 percent of her road earnings to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.; she is the president of her local chapter. She also does tireless work for the NAACP, is a member of the National Council of Negro Women and raises money for AIDS Research with merchandise sales.

She has been involved in countless festivals and comedy shows, including Black Entertainment Television’s “Comic View” and HBO’s “All-Star Def Comedy Jam.” She is also taking her adult conversation to morning television, as she is set to co-host BET Network’s new talk show “Oh Drama!” on Wednesdays and Thursdays in February.

Catch Sheryl Underwood this weekend at the Improv but be prepared for some grown-folk talk and a night filled with laughter.

Sheryl Underwood will be at the Improv at the Waterfront from Feb. 5 through Feb. 8. For more information, call (412) 462-5233.
