Well, folks, the festival begins this weekend. From Friday through Sunday, you can visit the “Only in Oakland” festival in the parking lot between Atwood Street and Meyran Avenue on Sennott Street.
We encourage everyone to do so.
This festival is similar to one that occurs in Shadyside, a neighborhood-wide party that features live music and a sampling of what Shadyside has to offer. Shadyside has an image as a posh neighborhood, but Oakland doesn’t.
Just because Shadyside has a more glamorous reputation doesn’t mean that Oakland doesn’t have a lot to offer. The upcoming festival could help more people find out some of Oakland’s hidden treasures.
