Career game from Femi Odukale carries Pitt to 64-55 win over Jacksonville

Femi Oduklae’s career-high-tying 28 points carried the offense in a 64-55 win over Jacksonville on Tuesday afternoon at the Pete. The Panthers concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule and will now prepare for the start of ACC play.

Burton returns as Pitt sneaks past UNCW, 59-51, to earn first win

Nothing has come easy for Pitt men’s basketball so far this season, even its first win. The Panthers almost let leads as big as 17 slip away from them, but ultimately did just enough to pull out their first win, 59-51 over UNC Wilmington on Tuesday night.

The Citadel routs Pitt, 78-63, in season opener

Pitt men’s basketball was thoroughly outplayed by The Citadel in a season opening loss on Tuesday night. Jason Roache and Hayden Brown combined for 46 points to help the Bulldogs down the Panthers, 78-63.
Pitt men’s basketball team played an intrasquad scrimmage at the Petersen Events Center on Saturday. Though it wasn’t an intense competition, the game provided early insight into Pitt’s new roster.

Gueye dominates in men’s basketball’s Blue-Gold scrimmage

In front of a few hundred fans at the Petersen Events Center, Pitt men’s basketball played an intrasquad scrimmage and gave a first look at the 2021-22 Panthers. The Blue and White teams split the event, with White winning the first 12-minute game 27-22 and Blue dominating the second in an 18-7 victory.

Despite multiple gutsy comeback attempts, Pitt men’s basketball (5-2 overall, 1-1 ACC) was unable to overcome the absence of two key players and its head coach on Tuesday night in a 64-54 loss to Louisville (5-1 overall, 1-0 ACC) at the Petersen Events Center.

Simply put, Pitt Men’s basketball has been bad on the road under third-year head coach Jeff Capel. The Panthers are 2-20 in true road games with Capel at the helm, but took a step towards flipping that script on Wednesday night. 
First-year forward and Brooklyn native Justin Champagnie (11) was the leading scorer during Pitt’s 2019-20 season with 12.7 points per game.

Newcomers to shuffle Pitt basketball rotations

With Pitt basketball officially ending their season with a record of 16-17 and 6-14 in conference play, it is time to look forward to next season. As the Panthers welcome new faces into the fold, there will be a fight for playing time and a different rotation will surely be in order for next season.
