Pitt men’s soccer beat Virginia Tech 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon. With this win, the Panthers advance to the semifinal round of the ACC men’s soccer tournament, where they will meet Notre Dame.

Xavier Johnson’s career-best 32 points was supported by a suffocating defensive effort as Pitt topped No. 16 Virginia Tech, 83-72, for their first win over a ranked opponent in more than two years.
While players usually walk on the field with their families for the ceremonies, Pitt couldn’t carry on the tradition during the COVID-19 pandemic. Players came out by themselves this year, as their families provided video messages on the jumbotron.
The No. 2 Pitt Panthers men’s soccer team (3-0) handily defeated Virginia Tech (0-1) at Ambrose Urbanic Field 4-2 in their first home match of the season Saturday.
