DJ Diesel, better known as Shaquille O’Neal, is set to headline this year’s Bigelow Bash.
O’Neal released his debut album, Shaq Diesel, in 1993, and his music career has taken off since. The musical, former-basketball star has been consistently releasing music since his debut, ranging from R&B to dubstep and trap.
Originally from Newark, New Jersey, O’Neal made his name as a basketball player. Though he is most famous for his sporting ability, O’Neal has recently gained attention for his DJing. Plenty of his original songs have seen huge success, with multiple albums making it on the Billboard charts.
Hosted by Pitt Program Council, Bigelow Bash hosts a lineup of musical performances each year — completely free to Pitt students. This year’s festival will take place on Schenley Drive on April 11 at 6 p.m. Students must claim tickets in advance. The event’s opener will be determined by Pitt Factor, Pitt’s “Battle of The Bands”-style competition. The winner of the competition hosted on March 30 will receive the opportunity to open for DJ Diesel.
