A-Rod to Dodgers?

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ new manager Joe Torre said Friday that… A-Rod to Dodgers?

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ new manager Joe Torre said Friday that there’s a possibility that free agent Alex Rodriguez could join him in Los Angeles, ESPN.com reported.

Torre thinks the Dodgers are an option because not many teams can afford the paycheck for which Rodriguez is asking, a reported $350-million deal for 10 years, and the close relationship the two maintained in New York.

Rodriguez opted out of his contract with the Yankees and only a handful of teams are in the running for his services. The Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and San Francisco Giants are believed to be the only organizations interested in Rodriguez at this time.

Tigers on the prowl … again

LSU topped Louisiana Tech, 58-10, over the weekend, but the bigger news occurred elsewhere. Top-rated Ohio State stumbled at home against unranked Illinois in a Big Ten contest, 28-21. The Buckeyes’ loss propelled LSU into the top spot of every national college football poll.

LSU leads second-ranked Oregon and undefeated Kansas in the BCS standings. Behind Kansas are Big 12 programs Oklahoma and Missouri, respectively.

Missouri and Kansas play No. 24, while Oklahoma should play the winner of that contest in the Big 12 conference championship game in December. Kansas is the only undefeated team in the BCS top 10.
