Writing Contest
The Pitt News is holding its first-ever writing contest open to Pitt students looking to get their writing published and win prize money! Submissions of non-fiction writing are due November 30 and results will be posted the first week back from winter break.

Submission Details:
- Submissions can include anything non-fiction including but not limited to memoirs, personal essays, poetry and more.
- Submissions should be no more than 800 words.
- Any Pitt student not affiliated with The Pitt News can participate for a chance to win prize money and get their work published!
- Form submissions must contain a name, email, PeopleSoft number and a view-only link to the written piece that has no identifying information on the document. If we cannot access your document, we will not reach out to request access.
- Submissions are free and limited to one per student.
Winning Submissions:
We will be selecting three winners and five runner-ups. The awards are as follows:
- 1st place: $100
- 2nd place: $75
- 3rd place: $50
The five runner-ups will not receive monetary compensation but will still have their submissions published.
The three placing winners of the contest and five runner-ups will have their work published on this page. The winners and runner-ups will receive copy editing, but no other formal edits/revisions.
