Monday, Aug. 20
3:14 a.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Craig M. Haas, of 4244… Monday, Aug. 20
3:14 a.m. – Police arrested non-affiliate Craig M. Haas, of 4244 McCaslin St., at UPMC Presbyterian hospital for an outstanding warrant.
1:10 p.m. – An officer extinguished a small trash can fire outside of the Petersen Events Center.
7:11 p.m. – Officers responded to fire alarm in Panther Hall. The source of the smoke turned out to be burned popcorn.
10:32 p.m. – An individual reported seeing a man break into a vehicle on the 3900 block of Fifth Avenue and remove items.
Tuesday, Aug. 21
2:09 a.m. – Officers assisted a man, who was locked out of his apartment, at the Franklin Complex.
9:16 a.m. – A staff member at the Cathedral of Learning reported to Pitt police that custodians had accidentally discarded display materials. Custodians were contacted and promised to attempt to retrieve the items from a Dumpster.
12:47 p.m. – A fire alarm was set off by work being done on the alarm system at Biomedical Science Tower 3.
12:49 p.m. – A guard at O’Hara Garage reported smelling a strange odor. The odor was later determined to be caused by nearby construction work.
1:42 p.m. – An individual turned in a lost wallet found near Pennsylvania Hall. Police placed the wallet in recovered property.
2:33 p.m. – A person reported the theft of cash money and a credit card from her purse. The incident took place at the William Pitt Union.
3:23 p.m. – A staff member reported seeing a suspicious person at the MPAC building on Sennott Square.
3:50 p.m. – A person reported the theft of her missing bike wheel from the Forbes Hall bike rack.
4:39 p.m. – An individual slipped on the Forbes Avenue steps of the Litchfield Tower lobby.
6:40 p.m. – A person reported receiving a potential phishing e-mail from a Pitt e-mail address. An investigation is pending.
9:36 p.m. – An officer reported a broken door and filed a repair request in Lawrence Hall.
11:53 p.m. – Officers arrested and cited Pitt student Matthew P. Gray, of 171 Rosscommon Road, Wexford, Pa., for underage drinking near the corner of Atwood and Louisa streets.
11:55 p.m. – A person at McCormick Hall reported to police that someone had verbally harassed them from an upper window.
Wednesday, Aug. 22
7:58 a.m. – Vehicles were towed from various locations around campus because of move-in convenience parking.
11:50 a.m. – Non-affiliate Adrienne J. Spillar, of 2303 Montague Ave., Avon, Ohio, was arrested and cited with disorderly conduct.
5:08 p.m. – Someone reported a suspicious person with two bicycles on Dawson Avenue.
6:50 p.m. – An individual at Trees Hall was injured by broken glass in front of the building. The area was cleaned afterward.
8:22 p.m. – An individual reported that a laptop was stolen from Forbes Craig apartments. The investigation is pending.
8:39 p.m. – Non-affiliate Rodney Lee Scott, of 641 Broadway St., McKees Rocks, Pa., was arrested on a warrant at the Kings Court building.
Thursday, Aug. 23
12:50 a.m. – Someone reported the theft of cleaning items from Old Engineering Hall. An investigation is pending.
8:51 a.m. – A purse was found on Schenley Farms Terrace and turned in to police.
9:44 a.m. – A person was stuck on an elevator in Thackeray Hall and eventually released by a repairman.
9:55 a.m. – The fire alarm in Panther Hall was activated by burning popcorn. The incident was cleared.
7:55 p.m. – Non-affiliates Ernest D. Boyd, of 156 Wesley St., and Dennis J. Currie Jr., of 1504 N. Randolph Drive, were cited for violating open container laws at Euler Way and Atwood Street.
Friday, Aug. 24
12:46 a.m. – A security alarm sounded at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The alarm was checked and found to be secure. The incident was cleared.
1:34 a.m. – A person was assaulted on Oak Hill Drive. An investigation is pending.
