6:10 a.m. — Officers assisted the Pittsburgh Fire Department with a report of burning mulch on a bank near Bigelow Boulevard and Parkman Avenue. The smoke was found to be from a steam leak. The incident was cleared.
2:43 p.m. — A faculty member reported an illegal entry into his office at the Cathedral of Learning. An investigation is pending.
6:57 p.m. — A staff member reported a forcible entry into an office at Thackeray Hall. An investigation is pending.
Thursday, May 11
3:12 p.m. — A driver struck a curb while turning into 4200 Fifth Avenue that caused the tire to go flat on a University vehicle. The incident was cleared.
8:03 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a University light pole knocked over at the loading dock near the Chevron Science Center. The area was taped off and the incident was cleared.
10:02 p.m. — A computer protection alarm was activated near Benedum Hall. An officer checked the area and found it to be secure. The incident was cleared.
Monday, May 15
10:44 a.m. — Officers assisted city police with an accident at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and McKee Place. The incident was cleared.
9:37 p.m. — A guard reported a broken thermometer that caused a mercury spill. Health and Safety was notified and the incident was cleared.
11:08 a.m. — An officer found the front door of the Chevron Science Center propped open with a newspaper. The incident was cleared.
Tuesday, May 16
9:19 a.m. —Police cited non-affiliate Kenneth J. McConeneghy, of 136 Sixth Ave., for defiant trespass near the Cathedral of Learning.
1:51 p.m. — A person reported a theft from his car on the 3100 block of Forbes Avenue. The incident was cleared.
6:06 p.m. — A person reported that glass had been pushed in on a vending machine in David Lawrence Hall. The vending company was notified. The incident was cleared.
Wednesday, May 17
10:52 a.m. — A person turned over a lab mouse found at an unknown location. The mouse was turned over to animal control. The incident was cleared.
3:55 p.m. — Officers responded to a reported fire in a vending machine in Posvar Hall. The fire was extinguished and the incident was cleared.
Thursday, May 18
11:23 a.m. — Officers responded to a suspicious person in the William Pitt Union. The officers located the person and found that she was not affiliated with the University. The person was escorted from the building and given trespass warnings. The incident was cleared.
5:00 p.m. — Officers checked four people smoking in a car in the Panther Hollow parking lot. Officers warned the people about loitering. The incident was cleared.
